{Giving Back} May Food Drive - Final Tally!

Thank you all SO much for your support for my Birthday month food drive!!

 

In physical donations from friends, family and clients - we had 65 cans of food which equalled 58lbs when I dropped it off at Good Neighbors food bank this morning!!

In "virtual" donations in the form of comments on blog posts, new fans of Cardas Photography and Bandon Business Spotlight on Facebook, Re-tweets on Twitter, and comments on Facebook photos and posts, we had 88 total!!

I was going to buy those 88 cans of food and donate them, but instead I decided that the food bank can stretch the dollars they have buying bulk better than I can. So I decided to donate a dollar for every virtual can of food which combined with the real food was 153 - which I then rounded up to 200 with a cash donation of $135 along with the real cans of food.

Thank you all again for making my birthday month so special!!

Here are some details from Director of Operations Jared Cornell:

"The raffle is for a 1967 Mustang Coupe, Mercedes Benz red exterior and Black interior.  The Mustang had a frame off restoration about 15 years ago and is in pretty darn good shape.  It is mechanically sound and the exterior is very nice.  Minor repairs have been made, including paint touch ups, a new radiator, a full tune up with new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, etc.

The raffle is being conducted by the Boys & Girls Clubs and all proceeds will be put into facility repairs and upgrades.  Tickets are $20 and we will be selling a maximum of 5,000 tickets.  If you would like to purchase tickets you can come into the Club at 305 South 5th Street, Lebanon OR 97355 and buy as many as your heart desires or you can mail a check or money order in to the Club at the same address and we will receipt it in and mail you your tickets if you supply us with a return address. You can also buy tickeds on-line by going to the >>>WEBSITE<<< and clicking on the online donations tab and selecting the "raffle" option. We will then mail you the tickets. If you have any further questions you can call me at 541-258-7105."

2008 Celebration of Trees at the Boys and Girls Club

Another flawless event from the Albany Boys and Girls club - Kambria is my bud and neighbor - and she (and everyone at the club) bust their tails for MONTHS to get this event to go off without a hitch, and raise a lot of money to help 3,927 of kids in Albany.

I love photographing this event - I just get to walk around and admire all the beautiful trees and decide what I am going to bid on.  This year I won a fabulous wreath and a Spa gift basket :)

The food was amazing - catered by Jacopetti's Catering

Oh yeah - there were trees there too! My goal for 2009 is to be able to bid on and win one of these amazing trees!
 

For most of the trees you don't just get the tree and the decorations on it - you get lots of stuff under and around it too!  This one came with its own train!

The place was packed! Everyone really comes out and supports this awesome place every year!

Speaking of the fabulous people who help support this event! I would like to give a big THANKS to all of the local business who help this event be a success.  PLEASE support local businesses when you can - it makes a world of difference!!

Saw this poster at the club last night:

All net proceeds from Dutch Bros Coffee locations in Albany TODAY will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Albany!  How cool is that!? I'm gonna have to go get a milky way latte for me and a mango Smoothie for Josh :)

Albany Boys and Girls Club Festival of Trees

The 2007 Festival of Trees did not disappoint!  The Albany Boys and Girls club gym was PACKED!!  At one point I saw them bringing in more chairs - so thats a great sign, right?  I made my donation as well - I love a good silent auction!  I would post a picture - but my Mother-in-Law is the lucky recipient and she may see my blog at some point between now and Christmas... :)
